Thank you for visiting!
We (John, Susan, Jadon, Lila, Lucas & a player to be named later) are a Michigan family. We started Kid Planet because we wanted to share our passion for parenting. Our kids are 5, 3, and 1, and we’re expecting in October!
We write about parenting, health, education and green living. Our mission is to promote good health, quality education and environmental stewardship. Our online store will be opening soon. We’ll be offering smart product choices that will provide a brighter future for children and our planet.
Meet the Authors:
The Mommy Blogger:
I’m the proud mommy of three kids 5 and under, with one more on the way, due in October. Officially considered “of advanced maternal age” (GASP!) by my doctors since Lila (Child #2) was born a few years back, I will be 39 when Baby #4 arrives.
I have a BA in Spanish, earned an MA in Education, studied at a university in the Dominican Republic for a year, and taught English in Sendai, Japan after graduating from college. Since I do not teach in a classroom currently, my children (and husband) are the lucky recipients of my love of grammar, reading and writing, the Spanish language, and education in general. I have taken numerous aspects of teaching fourth graders and adapted them to fit with the everyday lives of our children.
Almost six years ago, when our firstborn, Jadon was born, I told John I would love to take one year off from my tenure as an elementary teacher to stay at home with our newborn. Little did I know how much I would love being home full-time. I wouldn’t trade my career choice of being a SAHM for anything; it is truly my passion. While I miss being in the classroom, there’s nothing more important and rewarding I could do right now than to stay home with our three little ones.
The Daddy Blogger:
I’m a 51 year old father of three children and counting. (That’s right, 51. I’m a late bloomer). I was born and raised on Long Island, New York, and educated in San Francisco, California where I earned an MBA in marketing. I lived in Colorado for 19 years where I met my lovely wife, Susan (a Michigan gal). We moved back to Michigan about five years ago to be closer to family. We’re celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary this year!
I write about parenting from a dad’s perspective. And being a dad is pretty cool. I may have sacrificed a world of peace and quiet, but what I’ve gained can’t really be articulated. If you are a parent I think you know what I’m talking about. My children give me such incredible joy–a feeling I never knew would be possible. My family makes me the happiest person on the planet. And with 3.3 children I think you know what planet I live on: KidPlanet.
PSssst. The real value of the blog is the words of wisdom from Susan. Susan is a wonderful wife an incredible mother. Seriously. Her background as an elementary school teacher and her experience as a stay at home mom provides her with a lot to blog about. She’s a great resource!
